About the Event

UNESCO's Roundtable on Ethics of Artificial Intelligence on 26 March from 1pm to 3pm (GMT + 1, CET) . The event will be held online and open to the public.

UNESCO, through its Bioethics program, first launched a series of roundtables in 2018 to promote an international dialogue and to draw the attention of policymakers, researchers and the general public to the considerable ethical challenges of AI. The Roundtable's third edition will address cultural diversity and its potential to shape a yet-to-be-built global ethical framework of artificial intelligence.

It will be moderated by Peter-Paul Verbeek (The Netherlands), Professor of Philosophy of Technology at the University of Twente, and Chairperson of UNESCO's World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST).

Invited speakers are:

  • Sheila Jasanoff (United States) , Pforzheimer Professor of Science and Technology Studies at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government;
  • Jason Edward Lewis (Canada), University Research Chair in Computational Media and the Indigenous Future Imaginary and Professor of Computation Arts at Concordia University, Montreal. Co-director of the Indigenous Protocol and Artificial Intelligence Working Group;
  • Shoko Suzuki (Japan) , Professor at Kyoto University, Graduate School of Education.

The roundtable will be accessible through live Zoom. English and French simultaneous interpretation is provided. Please click here to register:
